In the present study, water samples were collected from five sampling zones of the river Kali and analyzed for water quality assessment using physico-chemical parameters. Some chemical variables were found slightly high in river water samples collected from downstream sites. Correlation between various physico-chemical variables was also calculated. The present work highlighted the tremendous chemical pollution and drastic temporal and spatial change in water quality of river Kali. However, water quality was slightly restored by river ecosystem at downstream sites.Key words: Water quality, River ecosystem, Kali River, Western UP, Physico-chemical variables.
